Letter: Enough with the executive orders
I think that it is time for people to take another civics class taught in junior high. This includes most media, elected officials and even members of the Supreme Court.
I tire of hearing this Court called extreme (or worse) and even conservative. They are Constitutional and doing the task that they are instructed to do in the Constitution.
They are not to make law. They are to review law and determine if it follows the Constitution.
Roe vs. Wade was a bad decision which in effect made a law that was not in the Constitution. Even Leftist darling Ruth Bader Ginsburg said so. Taking away power from the EPA is another example.
Congress needs to pass a law establishing the guidelines of emissions by factories. Then it is up to the executive branch and the EPA to enforce these regulations.
The Supreme Court is doing its job. If anything, people should demonstrate outside the Capitol to encourage Congress to do its job. It has too frequently ignored passing controversial legislation that incites the president to issue executive orders that are in effect laws that can be struck down by the next president.
Biden did just that to Trump's stay-in-Mexico policy, because it is not legislative law. I do not understand why a previous court did not strike down Obama's DACA policy, which also was just an executive order. Even Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was just an executive order. It takes the full power of the government to make it a law and even change the Constitution to keep it. Congress, please legislate!
