Letter: Real solutions needed on inflation, gas
I want to send out a huge thank you to J.B. Pritzker. Our benevolent governor has decided to remove the 1% tax on groceries. Now, when my wife and I spend $100 at the Jewel, we will actually only be paying $99 for our food. Gee, I think we'll take that $1 and splurge at Morton's or Sullivan's. Of course, I can combine those savings to go along with the 2ยข tax on gas he is not implementing until December and then we'll really be in tall cotton.
J.B., this political theater of your supposed great tax savings is not what we need. We need gas to get back to $2 a gallon and energy independence. That will help to stem inflation and provide real relief to citizens. Saving a buck on a hundred dollars at the grocery store and saving 20 cents on ten gallons of gas is a solution to nothing.
