Lake County seeking public comment on Cedar Lake Road plan

The Lake County Division of Transportation has extended the public comment period for the proposed plan to improve Cedar Lake Road between Nippersink Road and Hart Road in Round Lake until July 15.

LCDOT recently held a public hearing on the project, during which it presented the preferred alternative and findings of environmental studies.

The preferred alternative includes: Realigning Cedar Lake Road to the west with a new at-grade crossing with the railroad; a 5-lane curbed roadway with multiuse sidewalk and drainage improvements; improvements at the intersections of Nippersink Road, Route 134 and Hart Road; and improvements to Metra's Milwaukee District North Round Lake station.

Public comments can be provided by emailing cedarlakeroad@cmtengr.com, completing an online form at cedarlakeroadrealignment.org/contact, or mailing Lake County Division of Transportation, Attn: Chuck Gleason, Project Manager, 600 W Winchester Road, Libertyville, IL, 60048.
