Palatine Farmers' Market Features Brotherhood of Harmony

Continuing the tradition of featuring local musicians to entertain market customers, the Palatine Sister Cities Association is pleased to welcome back the Brotherhood of Harmony to the Palatine Summer Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 9. The program will include a wide range of songs, from old favorites to Broadway numbers to rock-n-roll tunes to well-known melodies. Customers are invited to sing along with the chorus.

"We sing an extensive repertoire of popular music using four-part harmony to produce the barbershop quartet sound," said Brian Cromer, chorus director.

Also, at 9 a.m. on July 9, the Palatine Sister Cities Association and Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz will present the Dr. Elizabeth Hull Memorial Scholarship award to the 2022 recipient. The award includes a $4,000 college tuition scholarship and a trip to our French sister city Fontenay-le-Comte.

Take in the Palatine Summer Farmers Market at the Palatine Train Station parking lot, 137 Wood St. The Market takes place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October. Vendors offer farm fresh produce, organics, pasture-raised meats & eggs, seafood, artisan breads, gourmet cheeses, honey, cookies and other baked goods, dog treats, tacos and tamales, kettle corn, knife/tool sharpening, and much more.

The Brotherhood of Harmony meets weekly to rehearse at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings at DeerGrove Covenant Church, 225 E. Helen Road, Palatine. If you love to sing, the chorus has openings for all parts and skill levels, so come join. In addition, a special program of free singing/voice lessons will be offered beginning July 14.
