Little City honors couple with humanitarian award

More than 240 golfers attended the 59th annual Little City Invitational Monday, June 20, helping to raise money for more than 1,000 people with developmental and intellectual disabilities who rely on Little City's services.

The annual event at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove also recognizes some of Little City's most prominent supporters with the Morrie Kellman Humanitarian Award. This year's award went to Wendy and Irwin Steinberg, who have spent the last decade supporting Little City, especially in the children's program, where they funded a therapeutic playground.

Both Wendy and Irwin have extensive professional and charitable accomplishments outside of Little City. Wendy spent many years teaching in special education at Glenkirk in Glenview and throughout the Northwest suburbs.

After teaching, she went to work at Steinberg Advisors, an accounting and consulting firm started by Irwin.

After many successful years running Steinberg Advisors, Irwin merged his firm into a National CPA firm. Irwin is a Certified Public Accountant, member of the American Institute of CPAs, Illinois CPA Society and former chapter chairman of YPO Windy City.

He also is director of First Choice Labs and member of Long Grove Economic Development Commission.

Together, Wendy and Irwin have been involved in many charitable efforts, including the Jose Morales Memorial Caddie Scholarship Fund and the American Diabetes Association, where Irwin was named Father of the Year in 2018.
