Man crashed into backyard in Bartlett after medical emergency while driving

A 69-year-old man died Monday after having what police officials called a medical emergency while driving, which led him to crash into the backyard of a Bartlett home.

Bartlett police did not identify the man, who was pronounced dead at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield Monday afternoon. Officials did the man is believed to have died from the same medical emergency that led him to crash.

Police Sgt. Tom Alagna said the man was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram truck north on South Bartlett Road near the intersection with East Struckman Boulevard when he suffered the medical emergency at around 12:30 p.m. The man's vehicle began to veer to the left and crossed the southbound lane of traffic, Alagna said.

Alagna said the man's truck first struck a utility box and then the backyard landscaping of a house on the 600 block of Winchester Court.

No one besides the man was injured in the crash, Alagna said.
