Letter: Take a new look at Rabine for governor

There is only a week and a half until the primary election and no doubt you have seen your share of attack ads from the two front-runners for the Republican nomination for governor.

On one hand, you have Richard Irvin, whose T-shirts are by now probably being used as paint rags. Voters are convinced he is a Democrat. On the other hand, you have Darren Bailey, who is lighting those paint rags on fire. If you want to burn down the Republican Party, then Sen. Bailey is your man.

If you think either of these two men will unite the party after June 28, you are in for a rude awakening. Either way, it's a recipe for disaster. Because of inflation jitters and skyrocketing fuel costs, the market has now entered bear territory and the threat of recession is real. A financial crisis is upon us, and Democrats are poised to seize the day.

Take a new look at Gary Rabine. Gary Rabine has built dozens of successful businesses right here in Illinois and created thousands of jobs. Gary is endorsed by both Art Laffer and Steve Moore. Art Laffer was member of Ronald Reagan's Economic Policy Board; Steve Moore was Donald Trump's economic adviser.

Unlike Bailey and Irvin, Gary Rabine is not backed by Illinois billionaires or Democrats. His campaign was mostly funded by himself and many friends who are small-business owners like Gary. It's time to throw away the paint rags and put down the flame thrower. It's time to give a job creator like Gary Rabine a new look.
