Letter: Parade's intolerance

It is interesting how writing that is supposed to be unbiased can change the meaning of a topic. In the June 9 issue, the reporter stated that controversy over the Aurora Pride parade "began when Mayor Irvin criticized organizers" for banning uniformed police officers and their service revolvers from participating in the parade.

Why did the writer not state that the controversy actually began when parade organizers refused to show tolerance to a group of human beings (police officers)?

It was also interesting that the ACLU took no notice of this intolerance and instead threatened the mayor not to take retaliatory behavior against parade organizers, ignoring the fact that police officers were being asked not to carry their weapons in a possibly endangerous environment.

I had planned to attend the event: I am a supporter of LGBTQ rights. However, I do not support intolerance, and that includes that of the Aurora Pride Parade organizers.
