No injuries in Tuesday night house fire in Elgin
No injuries were reported after fire broke out Tuesday night at a home on Elgin's east side, fire officials said Wednesday.
Elgin Fire Department firefighters called to the 600 block of Raymond Street at about 8:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire arrived to find smoke coming from a first-floor room through an exterior door.
The fire was extinguished within five minutes of the firefighters arrival, limiting damage to the room of origin, officials said.
Damage was estimated at $10,000.
Initial indications suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue. The Elgin Fire Department Fire Investigation Team is investigating.
