Peter Schallmoser sworn in a new Lake Barrington trustee

Peter Schallmoser was sworn in as Lake Barrington's newest trustee Monday.

Schallmoser replaces Trustee Jim Thompson, who resigned last month because of family health issues, officials said. Thompson had been a board member since 2015.

Schallmoser had served on the village's plan commission since last July. Before that, was a member of the ethics commission. Schallmoser also volunteered on many local community service projects, Village Administrator Karen Daulton said.

"Peter brings enthusiasm and skill to his work in village government," she said. "He can be counted on to be an active and positive contributor to our board's ongoing effort to keep Lake Barrington 'An oasis of gracious countryside living.'"

That's a reference to the village's motto.

Because he was appointed to fill a vacancy, Schallmoser's seat will be on the ballot in the 2023 local consolidated election.

Professionally, Schallmoser is a senior vice president with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
