Scammer defrauds Des Plaines resident
A Des Plaines resident was defrauded Wednesday by someone posing as an Amazon customer service representative, police said Friday. The scammer persuaded the victim to purchase 20 gift cards and share the numbers to ensure a package would be delivered. The cards were worth nearly $2,500, police said.
