Swedish Days Festival returns to Geneva as big as ever June 22-26

A long-standing and beloved Geneva tradition is celebrating 72 years this summer. Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine returns to Geneva June 22-26, bringing with it food, music and activities the whole family can enjoy.

Swedish Days began as a way to honor the strong Swedish heritage that many Geneva families embrace. Not only is the festival a way to honor their roots, but it also helps teach others about Swedish traditions and highlights the many wonderful businesses and restaurants Geneva offers. The Geneva Chamber of Commerce, which organizes Swedish Days, estimates that around 200,000 people will visit Geneva over the course of the festival, with 45,000 attending the annual parade alone. As Swedish Days has grown, the community has pulled together to continue offering traditional Swedish Day events and expanding offerings to accommodate the growing crowds.

"We pride ourselves on changing with the times, preserving favorites while introducing new things. We like to keep Swedish Days traditionally fresh," said Laura Rush, communications director for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

This year's festival will feature carnival rides, shopping, the annual parade, a car show, a craft beer tent, Sweden Väst and free entertainment. Kids' Day will provide activities geared toward the youngest festivalgoers. Additionally, Geneva restaurants and shops will stay open late and offer specials throughout the event. Swedish Days is chock-full of exciting offerings and attendees are encouraged to check the Chamber website for full event details.
