Barrington United Methodist Church welcomes Ana Kelsey-Powell, Director of Youth Ministries

Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road, Barrington, welcomes Ana Kelsey-Powell as director of Youth Ministries.

Kelsey-Powell was raised in the Chicago area, the oldest daughter of two United Methodist ordained elders. She grew up in the church and has spent the majority of her adult life working for churches or church-related nonprofits.

A graduate of Yale Divinity School, Kelsey-Powell is passionate about womanist theology, the intersections of theology and popular culture, and the importance of spiritual formation and biblical literacy. She is deeply committed to social justice initiatives and holds particular concern for immigration reform, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, anti-racism work and reproductive justice.

When not working, you can find Kelsey-Powell nerding out about her latest TV and film obsessions, reading for fun, singing, bowling badly, cooking well (her first professional degree), and spending time with her loved ones, both human and canine.

Barrington United Methodist Church offers an outdoor service at 9 a.m. (weather permitting), an indoor service in the Sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. and an online service each Sunday. Sunday school is available for children, ages 3 through grade 5, during both worship services.
