Letter: The hypocrisy of politicians

After going through yet another mass school shooting where innocent children were murdered in Texas, we will now see certain lawmakers make excuses for why it happened. It won't be because this country doesn't have universal background checks, at the very least. One excuse will be that not enough teachers are armed. There will be other ridiculous excuses.

These are the same lawmakers who are "pro-life" and are doing everything they can to take away the right of a woman to make a very tough personal decision whether to have an abortion or not. They don't seem to care that much about the right of a young child to be able to go to a safe place like school and to be able to learn and grow up and experience life.

A majority of gun owners (83%), including 72% of all NRA members support expanded background checks, according to a Public Policy Polling survey, but these politicians would rather side with those that contribute to their campaigns.

The hypocrisy makes me sick and these lawmakers should be voted out of office since they aren't actually representing their constituencies.
