Touch a Truck event Friday near Gurnee

Construction vehicles, fire engines, ambulances and all manner of big trucks will be gathered at Hutchins Athletic Field near Gurnee for a Touch a Truck event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The event will feature vehicles from the Warren Township Highway Department, Gurnee Fire Department, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Superior Ambulance Service and more.

Children, with parental supervision, will be allowed to sit in the drivers seat, honk the horn and climb around inside some of the same trucks that drive in their neighborhoods every day. No registration is required.

Hutchins Athletic Field is at 36753 N. Hutchins Road, just south of the intersection with Stearns School Road and just northwest of the village of Gurnee.
