Portillo's to offer plant-based hot dog

CHICAGO - Portillo's will offer a plant-based version of its iconic Chicago-style hot dog.

Greenleaf Foods, owner of leading plant-based brand Field Roast, Tuesday said it has formed a partnership with Portillo's to bring a plant-based hot dog to the restaurant chain.

Field Roast Signature Stadium Dog, the plant-based hot dog also available at retail stores nationwide, is now available at Portillo's, the company said. The new menu item marks the first plant-based offering for the iconic fast-casual hot dog chain.

"We are incredibly proud to partner with Portillo's to bring the flavor of Field Roast to this iconic chain rooted in Chicago hot dog history," said Adam Grogan, president of Greenleaf Foods.

Greenleaf Foods is a wholly owned, independent subsidiary of Maple Leaf Foods Inc.
