Rolling Meadows officers to get 3% raises under new contract
Rolling Meadows rank-and-file police officers will get annual raises of 3%, under terms of a new four-year contract approved this week.
The new collective bargaining agreement, covering officers, sergeants and commanders, is retroactive to Jan. 1 and runs through Dec. 31, 2025.
It calls for annual salary increases of 3% on Jan. 1 of each year.
A newly hired police officer on the first step of the contract's salary schedule can earn a base salary of $72,008 this year, while the most-experienced officer on the last step will make $114,557.
Sergeants can make up to $130,439, while commanders are paid up to $138,789, according to the contract.
Besides the general wage increases, the only other change to the agreement is extra pay for field training officers, city officials said. Those officers will receive one hour of overtime per day, rather than $150 per week, during the time the officers have new employees assigned to them.
The city council unanimously approved the contract without discussion Tuesday night, though the vote followed previous closed-session discussions. Members of the Rolling Meadows Police Association ratified the agreement earlier.
