Letter: Unborn children have same rights as women
In spite of the many straw arguments that sensationalize the issue, the debate on legalized abortion comes down to one simple question: Do you believe unborn innocent children should be allowed to be killed, under the law, with their mother's approval and cooperation? You can apply that question to a whole host of circumstances under which a woman becomes pregnant, but the question remains the same.
As a society, if the only and best solution we can offer to resolve such a personal crisis is to kill another innocent human being, then we're not nearly as progressive as we think we are. Truly progressive thought recognizes the inherent dignity of the lives of both the mother and the unborn child and finds a solution, from the many choices that are available, that respects both.
