Letter: It's your choice to have an abortion; mine not to
If you are being coerced into terminating a pregnancy, I will defend your right to refuse.
If you've conceived a child against your will - rape - but decided to carry the fetus to term and seek adoption for that baby, I will defend your right to do so.
If you conceived a child against your will but decided you will raise that child, I will defend your right to do so.
If you are being coerced into undergoing sterilization, as has happened to women in this country, I will defend your right to refuse.
If your amniocentesis shows abnormalities in the fetus but you decide to carry that fetus to term, I will defend your right to do so.
If you are pregnant again and are being criticized for having too many children, I will defend your right to make that decision for your family.
If you won't use birth control you consider an abortifacient (IUD), I will defend your right to do so.
Now I ask that you stand with me to defend the right to choose an abortion even though you are pro-life and would never choose an abortion for yourself.
My pro-choice stance does not cancel your pro-life beliefs. It reaffirms personal choice.
