Watch Republicans discuss issues in 8th Congressional District

Three of the five Republican candidates for U.S. House in the 8th Congressional District took part in a joint Zoom interview Tuesday with the Daily Herald - Chris Dargis of Palatine, Peter Kopsaftis of South Barrington and Phillip Wood of Carol Stream.

The three discussed a wide variety of topics including abortion, violent crime, inflation, immigration and Donald Trump.

Two other candidates - Karen Kolodziej of Itasca and Chad Koppie of Gilberts - did not participate.

The primary is June 28, with early voting to begin June 13 and mail-in voting to begin in mid-May.

The winner will face off in November against the winner of the Democratic primary - incumbent Raja Krishnamoorthi of Schaumburg or his challenger Junaid Ahmed of South Barrington.

The expansive suburban district centers around Bloomingdale, Schaumburg and Streamwood, but also extends as far north as Carpentersville and Buffalo Grove, as far south as Lombard and Villa Park, as far west as Elgin and as far easy as Elk Grove Village.
