Naperville police accepting applications for Youth Academy

The Naperville Police Department is accepting applications for its six-week Youth Academy this summer.

Applications are due by June 1 for the academy, which begins June 16 and continues from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday night through July 21.

The academy is designed to give teens a working knowledge of the Naperville Police Department. It consists of a series of classes, discussions and hands-on demonstrations covering a variety of topics, including patrol operations and investigations. All classes are free and held at the police department, 1350 Aurora Ave.

Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible, students must be in high school or beginning high school in the fall of 2022. They must reside in Naperville or attend a Naperville high school, have parental permission and transportation, and must be a student in good standing with no criminal contacts.

Interested candidates should print out and complete the Youth Academy application and waiver at naperville.il.us/cpa. The completed and signed documents should be returned to Sgt. Jon Pope by email at popej@naperville.il.us or through the mail or in person.
