Dundee Township Historical Society to hold annual meeting May 1
The Dundee Township Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, May 1. It will begin at 2 p.m. at the museum located at 426 Highland Ave. in West Dundee.
After a brief meeting and election of officers, a special program, titled "Gardening for Butterflies," will be presented by Katie Meyer, a Dundee Township naturalist.
Meyer will show how you can create your own backyard habitat and have a "way station" for the monarch butterfly.
Learn what host plants to incorporate in the garden to attract pollinators.
Meyer will give a history lesson on early gardening and how things have changed over the centuries with the influx of people from around the world. Find out what the European settlers brought with them and what native plant did they find.
Meyer helped create a Monarch Waystation for the residents of Village Green and taught them how to raise and release monarchs.
Join the Dundee Township Historical Society on Sunday to learn how you can create your own habitat and bring a special beauty to your garden.
