If Bruce Handler's reasoning in the letter "Muggings and the Russian invasion" were applied over the last few hundred years, then the United States would still be part of Britain and slavery would still be the backbone of our society and economy.

The fight for freedom has a price and wars shake up the world, but it is essential and ongoing. Would Mr. Handler like to be a slave of the Russians?

Are the Ukranians only justified to fight as long as they don't cause any bother to anyone else?
