Villa Park duplex damaged in fire Tuesday
Villa Park fire officials said no one was injured in a Tuesday evening blaze at a duplex on the 500 block of West Division Street that left one unit uninhabitable.
Firefighters were called to the single-story duplex at 6:17 p.m. and encountered smoke showing upon arrival.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze that was confined to a single bedroom in one unit.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damages were estimated at about $5,000, fire officials said.
The tenants renting the unit were relocated.
Fire officials said there was "no evidence of a working smoke detector" inside the unit.
