Wanting to work but tired of corporate life, boomers consider being their own boss
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great financial and lifestyle re-prioritization for baby boomers.
For the first time in their decades-long careers, boomers experienced life without the grinding office regimen. While most say they have enjoyed the relaxed pace of remote work or pandemic-induced retirements, as they contemplate their next steps few are considering permanent retirement. According to a January 2022 survey by Express Pros, 79% of workers age 57-75 would prefer semi-retirement over leaving the workforce altogether.
For these individuals an attractive alternative is to build an income-producing venture around a well-developed business skill or long-enjoyed hobby.
"We've been guiding new boomer entrepreneurs for 30 years," says Jeff Williams, CEO of GBizstarters. "With 30-plus years corporate work on average, our clients have strong skills and deep experience to offer to the marketplace."
