Elgin mobile home fire causes estimated $50,000 in damage
A mobile home undergoing renovations caught fire Wednesday evening and sustained an estimated $50,000 in damage, Elgin Fire Department officials said.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke pushing out of the double-wide mobile home on the 300 block of Lucille Avenue just before 7 p.m.
It took roughly 30 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
The attack on the fire was hampered due to "two nonfunctioning hydrants" in the area, fire officials said.
The home sustained "extensive damage," fire officials said.
The mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the fire as it was being rehabbed. It was deemed uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
