Libertyville Sunrise Rotary event raises over $62,000 for charities

Libertyville Sunrise Rotary recently held its semiannual "Spirit of Libertyville" fundraiser, a virtual evening of entertainment that raised over $62,000 for local charities.

With the support of Nirvana Wine and Grillerie, Main Street Social and Mickey Finn's Brewery, event attendees were treated to a curated meal while being entertained virtually.

Approximately 130 attendees showed their support by purchasing tickets for the event, in addition to participating in a paddle raise, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.

Proceeds from the paddle raise were $22,600 and donated to Honor Flight Chicago, an organization dedicated to building awareness and appreciation of the debt of gratitude America owes its veterans for their service and sacrifice.

"I'm grateful for the community support in our fundraising for local charities. We can both have fun and generate funding for these groups that give so much to our most needy residents," LSR President Rich Schoeneman.

"A shout out to our sponsors, club members and our event participants who truly are the hero's tonight. Your efforts to take care of the difference makers in our community are greatly appreciated."

The club thanks all who presented during the event, including Libertyville Mayor Donna Johnson, donors, volunteers, sponsors and partners, including Doug Meffley of Honor Flight Chicago and Jim Connell of Craftsman Media.

Since its inception in 1987, the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club has donated millions of dollars to both local and international charities, including programs to promote literacy, combat hunger and support the eradication of polio, as well as numerous local charities, food pantries, and scholarship programs.

The club is always encouraging more individuals to become involved, and anyone wishing to find out more about the club is encouraged to attend one of the weekly meetings on Wednesday mornings at Lambs Farm.
