Exhibit opening Sunday celebrates 135 years of the Elgin Woman's Club

An exhibit at the Elgin History Museum opening Sunday celebrates 135 years of the Elgin Woman's Club.

The club has been a dynamic force in Elgin since its founding in 1887 and is active in education, patriotism and the arts. The group's accomplishments include starting and operating Sherman Hospital and being a driving force behind Elgin starting garbage pickup at the turn of the 20th century.

There will be a program at the museum, located at 360 Park St., at 2 p.m., followed by time to mingle and view the exhibit.
