Operations resume at Carol Stream factory after early morning fire

Operations at a Carol Stream manufacturing plant were allowed to resume today after an early morning fire.

Carol Stream Fire Protection District officials said no injuries were reported in the blaze at the factory on the 100 block of North Schmale Road that occurred just after 3:30 a.m.

Firefighters encountered smoke upon arrival and were able to extinguish the fire located in the center of the warehouse area within 20 minutes. Fire officials said two overhead sprinklers had activated as well.

Firefighters were on scene for nearly an hour ventilating the building and clearing debris.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
