Letter: Late-arriving votes and faith in elections

This is in response to Mark Bodett's missive pertaining to late-arriving votes skewing election results. As a retired election judge, it is my experience that absentee ballots generally were not counted until the end of actual voting to preclude duplicate voting, the very issue that generates the most complaints.

During the election of 2020, we all knew well before the actual election that the results would not be settled for days, due to the unusual circumstances resulting from COVID. If our previous president had not started his vendetta against early voting, who knows what the time element would have been in ascertaining the final results? It might have taken even longer.

As for votes coming in "weeks" later, it was my understanding these were the votes coming in from our overseas military. I would hope they, too, have the right to vote.
