Letter: Congresswoman has accomplished record
With world events dominating our news these days, I want to encourage readers to be aware of Congresswoman Lauren Underwood's efforts. Keeping her head down and doing the work has been Underwood's priority for two terms. And she says "as a nurse, I have always considered access to quality, affordable health care fundamental to my practice." She has carried this mission with her into Congress for two terms.
Examples of Underwood's successes are:
• Legislation she authored to address the national veterans' suicide crisis was signed into law by President Trump in 2020. The Veterans' Care Quality Transparency Act (H.R. 2372) passed both houses of Congress with unanimous support. Underwood, a member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, has focused on ensuring high-quality mental health and reproductive health care for veterans.
• Underwood responded to skyrocketing insulin prices with the bipartisan Lower Insulin Costs Now Act. The legislation was signed into law by President Biden to make lower-cost, generic insulin available more quickly.
As the midterm election cycle gears up, please remember to support Congresswoman Underwood in her campaign to continue her work.
