Letter: Ukraine needs help; world needs leadership

I spent a great deal of time watching Russia's decimation of Ukraine. Commentators believe that Putin is upset that his invasion is not going well. It doesn't have to go much differently than it is. The United States and the E.U. and the rest of the world are giving him plenty of time.

I think that we should remember that when Ukraine gave up its nukes and virtually disarmed, the United States and others told them not to worry if they are in trouble "we will have your back." They were told that when they cleaned up their act that they may be considered for NATO.

If I were Ukrainian, I would be asking the U.S. and the rest of the free world, "Where are the people that were going to have our back?"

At this point, the Ukrainians need ammo, planes, missiles and lots of help. They need a united Europe, NATO and America to step forward and have their back, Sanctions may help in the long run, but the Ukrainians need tanks, jets and not just words and sanctions.

We are supposed to lead. We need to have our leaders, lead.

We are sending our ambassadors around the world to our enemies, begging them to drill for more oil when we have it here. Biden, Pelosi and Schumer are in charge. They need to challenge this man and stop him.

Where are the leaders in the world? Isn't there a Churchill, a Roosevelt, a Truman or a Reagan somewhere to be found? I hope that there can be a David and Goliath ending to this somehow.
