Letter: Return to pragmatism to solve energy problems

Though attention to history is important, it is imperative that we all live and deal in the here and now.

It is unproductive to read and hear the politically charged attacks that look backward. Obama this, Trump that. All have some blame.

There are no "devils versus angels" in politics. All will lie, justified by political motives. If you aren't strongly cynical of both political sides and the editorialized news (little pure reporting) of today, you are swallowing opinions and partial truths.

There is nothing wrong with pursuing ideological objectives as long as checked by pragmatic actions in the best interest of the citizenry when conditions dictate otherwise. Pure ideologues only deliver high-speed train wrecks. .

Instead of continued denial of responsibility, it would be great leadership if our president, administration, regulatory agencies and legislative leaders openly proclaim that since February 2021, a mistake was made by pushing too far and fast with the "electrification" of our nation. And this was a factor in the energy pain we have today.

Follow this proclamation with clear actions that deliver results to achieve North American energy independence and influence lower market and consumer energy pricing.

Though 14 months late, start with an immediate pragmatic solution-driven meeting between DOT, DOE, regulatory agencies and the North American energy providers, not exiting the room until a hard, measurable solution is put in place.

Return to your ideology when economic conditions allow. With this kind of honesty in leadership, all can be forgiven. Learn from history, this worked well for Kennedy, Reagan & Clinton.
