St. Catherine of Siena begins four-week Lenten journey in 'Finding Joy'
Where can you find joy? What holds you back from joy in your life? How can you maintain joy through the ups and downs of life?
These are some of the many questions to be addressed during the Lenten journey entitled "Finding Joy" for four consecutive evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, starting March 15 through April 5, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in West Dundee.
"Lent is traditionally a privileged time for more prayer, almsgiving, and fasting," said the Rev. John McNamara, pastor at St. Catherine of Siena Church. " It is also a good time to reflect on how we can be more joyful disciples of Jesus Christ."
The "Finding Joy" mini retreat will consist of song, prayer, priest reflection, fellowship and small group discussions.
Topics to be addressed include: "Finding Joy through Others" with the Rev. John McNamara on March 15; "Finding Joy through Detachment and Prayer" with the Rev. Ryan Browning, pastor at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin on March 22; "Finding Joy Through Suffering" with the Rev. David Reese, parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church on March 29; and "Finding Joy Through Virtuous Living" with the Rev. Bobby Blood, spiritual director at St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin on April 5.
The "Finding Joy" four-week retreat is open to the whole family. Hospitality for children will be available.
