Letter: COVID-19 rollbacks are just a political show

It's all for appearances. Gov. Pritzker publicly rolled back a number COVID-19 restrictions in March of this year. But what's going on behind the scenes? Pritzker's attorney general is fighting tooth and nail to enforce COVID-19 restrictions. For example, the AG's office is opposing a motion to join hundreds of new plaintiffs to the Sangamon County lawsuit against the school mask mandate.

Pritzker knows that elections are coming up and he knows that he alienated a number of voters in this state - that's why he is feigning loosening restrictions, but it's all for appearances.

If Pritzker truly wanted to loosen his restrictions, his AG's office would stop fighting the lawsuits in Sangamon County at every turn and they would focus their attention on other matters. But remember - it's all for appearances. If the alienated voters believe that he is loosening restrictions, then perhaps they will vote for Pritzker anyway, believing that the loosening of restrictions will continue. But his actions behind the scenes and on the docket of lawsuits over COVID-19 restrictions only prove that all of his posturing is only for appearances.

And voters in Illinois are too smart to fall for that. Either Pritzker stops talking the talk and starts walking the walk, or he will have an uphill battle come election time.
