Two Des Plaines men facing drug charges

Two cousins from Des Plaines were arrested Tuesday after police found drugs and open alcoholic beverages in a car near their home, according to a news release.

Jorge Zerafin, 22, and Juan Zerafin, 26, both of the 800 block of East Oakton Street, are charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle outside an approved container, illegal transportation or possession of alcohol and resisting a peace officer.

Police approached the car about 11:35 p.m. while it was running but parked in a lot. Officers searched the car and found open containers of alcohol, plastic bags containing marijuana and cocaine, a smoking pipe and other paraphernalia, according to the release.

A third person in the car was released without charges, police said.
