Rosemont man pleads guilty in child porn case

A 34-year-old Rosemont man faces 15 to 30 years in prison after guilty to producing child pornography, federal authorities said Thursday.

Marcos German Mendez is scheduled to be sentenced June 21.

According to court papers, Mendez admitted that on two occasions in 2015 he took more than 60 sexually explicit images of a 3-year-old girl while she was sleeping.

Records show Mendez saved the images to his phone and another image storage service, then fled to Mexico in 2016.

Mendez was later apprehended and extradited back to the U.S. for trial.
