Treasurer to review whether taxpayer funds are invested in Russian companies
Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim announced Wednesday her office will review whether taxpayer funds are being invested in Russian companies. The treasurer's office manages roughly $350 million in county investments. Kim said while the law prohibits direct investment in foreign companies she wants to make sure the county is not investing in U.S. subsidiaries of Russian companies. The review will be completed within a week. Kim's office said it is unlikely the county has any investments that require divestment, but if any such investments are found they will be liquidated within 30 days.
