Arcada Theatre, Des Plaines Theatre marking National Meatball Day with giveaways

The Arcada Theatre in St. Charles and Des Plaines Theatre are celebrating National Meatball Day Wednesday by giving out free meatballs in a "meatball mania."

Meatballs will be available at 3 p.m. at the Arcada Theatre and 11 a.m. at the Des Plaines Theatre, and will be handed out while supplies last.

Ron Onesti, president and CEO of the Arcada Theatre and Des Plaines Theatre, has served thousands of meatballs to festivalgoers, restaurant guests and celebrities during his 35-year career. His homemade meatballs have even been requested by musicians and performers who have been featured at the Arcada Theatre, many of them including requests for the meatballs in their contracts.

"Now that live music has returned, I look forward to seeing our friends visit both theaters and hand them free meatballs, until they run out," Onesti said in a news release. "National Meatball Day is a day I look forward to all year."
