Rockford man charged in 2020 vehicle break-in in Bartlett

Bartlett police arrested a Rockford man Tuesday in connection with a vehicle burglary two years ago in a restaurant parking lot.

Anthony Aviles, 32, is charged with burglary to a motor vehicle stemming from the Feb. 29, 2020, break-in in the 1100 block of West Lake Street.

A female victim alleged that an unknown person had burglarized her 2013 Chrysler Town & County minivan. A credit card and other personal items were reportedly stolen from the unlocked vehicle. The credit card later was used at a gas station and a fast-food restaurant and was attempted to be used on a mobile payment service and a local retail store.

Aviles is free after posting $3,000 bond. He's scheduled to return to court March 25.
