Police: Hit-and-run crash kills 2 on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO (AP) - A man and a woman died after officers found them critically injured in a vehicle following a hit-and-run crash on Chicago's South Side, police said.
Officers called to the scene about 11:15 p.m. Monday in Chicago's Pullman neighborhood found the man and woman unresponsive inside a vehicle that had been struck by another vehicle, Chicago police said.
A 69-year-old man who had been the vehicle's driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died. The 66-year-old woman passenger was also pronounced dead at a hospital where she had arrived in critical condition.
WLS-TV reported that there appeared to be two damaged SUVS at the scene of the crash, but Chicago fire officials said the two people killed were extricated from a single vehicle.
Chicago police did not immediately provide any information about the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
