CLC to host Lake County Maker Faire in person this April

After two years of trying, organizers of the Lake County Maker Faire - an all-ages gathering that is part science fair and part county fair - finally are planning to host the event in person.

Organizers tout it as the biggest show-and-tell in Lake County. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 9 at the College of Lake County's Grayslake campus.

At a traditional Maker Faire, created by the people behind Make Magazine in 2006, exhibitors set up booths to show off items they've created in their shop, garage or kitchen.

Makers of all levels and abilities are encouraged to submit projects for presentation.

The county's first Maker Faire was planned for the spring 2020 but was canceled because of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, organizers wanted to host the event in person but instead had to go ahead with a virtual version.

The event also showcases CLC's home for makers, the Baxter Innovation Lab, which opened in 2018.
