There are reasons Bears like Arlington site

It's pretty difficult to call someone who is well educated, an attorney and the mayor of a major city naive. However, Mayor Lightfoot, how naive can you be regarding the Bears?

You come out last week and you propose that the city would put a roof over Soldier Field.

Mayor, the Bears did not proceed with a plan to buy Arlington Park racecourse because Soldier Field doesn't have a roof. The reason for Arlington goes much deeper.

One, Soldier Field is in a terrible location. You can only get there via Lake Shore Drive. Parking is incredibly inadequate. Stadium capacity is lowest in the NFL.

Luxury boxes, a big time moneymaker for the team, are not on a par with the rest of the league. Finally, the Bears would command the stadium and its usage, they would reap concert and other event occurrences, not beholden to Chicago.

I've listed most of the reasons. I am sure that I missed a few more, but Ms. Lightfoot, putting a roof on an outmoded venue will not convince the Bears to stay put.

Put your energy into how to repurpose that area when the Bears bid you adieu. Of course, when that time rolls around, you won't be the mayor anyhow.
