Shocked by policy change
I am beyond shocked to hear the change in the mask policy for CCSD93. Up until this moment, I had been so proud of how CCSD93 handled this entire pandemic.
I don't even see an option to allow our kids to attend school remotely, if we don't want to send them into an environment that will now have a higher risk of transmission.
More than 900,000 Americans have died in less than two years, many of them needlessly, because people were not willing to do what needed to be done to stop the spread (masks, vaccinations, physical distancing, etc.).
You know the science and facts around vaccinations, masks and the prevalence of variants because not enough people have gotten vaccinated, and yet, still made this decision. This a shameful decision driven by politics and not science.
This decision was certainly not driven by the best health policy or with students' safety in mind. There is no kindness in this decision.
This decision is the opposite of kind. You have the gall to ask us to talk to our kids about personal choice and kindness, when someone else's choice could kill them or someone they love. The kids that have been wearing masks and not complaining this entire time already understand kindness and being part of a community.
I live a life of kindness and consideration to others, and I have always taught my children that.
However, it is also true, that the time is always right to do what is right. The right thing to do here is to speak up. To speak up for the safety of everyone in the CCSD93 family.
CCSD93 is now endangering our children. The district owes its staff, teachers and students better than this.
