Motorist fleeing police crashes into Elkhart flower shop
ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - A motorist fleeing police has crashed into a northern Indiana flower shop.
The driver refused to pull his vehicle over when troopers attempted to stop it about 3:55 a.m. Monday for traffic violations near the Indiana Toll Road Elkhart exit, state police said in a release.
The 18-year-old South Bend man lost control of the vehicle when it struck a concrete street divider in Elkhart. The vehicle then plowed into the front of the flower shop, causing extensive damage.
State police said the driver ran from the crash and attempted to get into a passing vehicle before he was arrested by an Elkhart officer. He has been jailed on a charge of resisting law enforcement.
