Elgin public works staff to speak at March 1 program

The Elgin chapter of the Izaak Walton League is hosting a presentation on the city of Elgin's plowing and salt program on March 1.

Katie Thrun, public works operation supervisor for Elgin, will lead the presentation. She has worked with the city since 2004 and has been part of the snow/ice operations since 2017.

Also to speak will be Aaron Neal, who oversees the entirety of the city's snow/ice program and has been working with the city since 2004.

Salt Watch, one of the league's hallmark programs, focuses on helping to reduce salt pollution in the nation's streams and drinking water.
