Federal standard needed
My great grandma was a suffragette, was jailed, then continued to push for the right to vote. Voting is a precious constitutional right.
There should be a federal standard that makes registration to vote and voting across the country equal and standard for all. Voting should also be made easier. We should not have to stand in long lines to cast a ballot in today's environment of technology, drive-up and mail availability.
Voting registration should be automatic when you turn 18. We do this with issuing Social Security numbers to newborns at hospitals. The same could be done when you turn 18. The high schools can easily verify citizenship and register these citizens to vote. Alternative locations would be necessary for the home-schooled, new citizens, the gap years and change of residence or name. Eventually everyone would be registered. This makes the right to vote a powerful constitutional right that it is.
