Former Palatine man held on $100,000 cash bail on sexual abuse charges

A former Palatine man facing charges of sexually abusing a girl on several occasions from 2015 to 2017 was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail Thursday.

That means Ricardo Blanco-Barradas, 36, must post the entire bail amount to be released from custody pending trial. He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, which is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Blanco-Barradas first abused the girl in 2015 when she was 13. They say he also abused her in 2016 and early 2017.

The girl told some friends about the abuse in October 2016, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Molly Anne Krebs. In January 2017, she told a school employee and was treated at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Five days later, Blanco-Barradas told his co-workers he would no longer be coming to work and picked up his last paycheck, Krebs said. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest on Feb. 2, 2017.

He was arrested Dec. 25, 2021, in Fort Wayne, Texas, and extradited to Illinois, Krebs said. His next court date is Feb. 25.
