Aurora warming center reopening for weekend cold snap
The city of Aurora will give those in need a place to stay warm this weekend when overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the single digits.
The Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway, serves as a warming shelter each night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Monday morning.
A community partner - HP24 and More Ministries - will provide free meals and blankets. The city provides water and snacks. Staff or security guards will remain on-site at all times.
Visitors to the nearby Hesed House, a homeless shelter, have been notified of the overnight option.
The city activates the emergency warming center based on temperature thresholds.
