Buffalo Grove village, park district again teaming for summer festival
The Village of Buffalo Grove will be partnering with the Buffalo Grove Park District this year once again on Buffalo Grove Days.
The village recently approved a memorandum of understanding with the park district, which calls for a 50-50 partnership on the annual festival held over Labor Day weekend.
"The park district will continue to gather sponsorships and oversee beverage sales as they did in 2021," said Mike Skibbe, deputy village manager and director of public works. "In addition, they've requested oversight related to entertainment booking, food vendor procurement and some of the publicity."
The village will be looking at bringing back the parade, the car show, and the barbecue challenge, Skibbe added.
Trustee Andrew Stein expressed concern about unresolved questions about the role of the Buffalo Grove Days Committee and the Buffalo Grove Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.
He said committee co-chair Paulette Greenberg sent an email last week indicating the panel was not on board with the memorandum of understanding.
"The roles of the Buffalo Days Committee have been extremely reduced," he said, citing areas such as entertainment and the food vendors.
"I'm just having a hard time looking at the memorandum of understanding and understanding how it's an understanding that everybody agreed on."
